Rules and FAQ (Read Before Posting) 1 Year ago Karma: -1
Welcome to the My REIN™ Space FAQ. If your questions are not answered below, or if you have any additional concerns, feel free to send a private message to Ethan or an e-mail to info@reincanada.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible. If you are having issues with the board, please reference the built-in Help function.

After viewing the Help files, you can check out the Help & Support forum to either post your question or see if it's already been answered.

If you have questions about your REIN™ membership, please visit the REIN™ Membership FAQ.

Rules:

1. This is a friendly forum and we expect you to fit in. Do not directly or indirectly insult other members; respect must be shown for all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and creeds. This includes the use of any slurs, whether meant as slang or not (i.e. use of the word 'gay' as an insult, any use of the n-word, etc).

Also, any form of threats or harassment towards any member of the forum, be it on or away from the board, will result in swift and decisive action.

Similarly, do not bring offline arguments onto the forum.

2. The material you post at these forums must be suitable for a PG-13 audience since we have people of all age groups. Swearing is not permitted.

3. Posts must be written in proper English with good punctuation, spelling, grammar and syntax. This is not an instant messaging program so please do not resort to "AIM language" such as "lol" and "lmao" to a great extent - make your posts readable.

4. Spamming any section of the boards will result in the locking or deletion of spam threads/posts, and further action depending on the severity.

Spamming is defined as, but is not limited to:

a. Non-sequiturs and other off-topic posts
b. One-word sentences, pointless responses or posts containing nothing but emoticons.
c. Sending meaningless discussion through Personal Messages.
d. Any post in which the meaning is not readily apparent.
e. Posting new threads outside of the appropriate forum.*

Never, ever respond to a topic that you may consider spam and declare that "This is spam". If you really feel strongly about it, report the post.

Also, do not post in a thread asking it be closed because of inactivity or because the topic has been resolved. Again, if it has content that deserves a closure, report it to a forum leader.

* Posting a topic in the wrong place is a common mistake, and will result in your topic simply being moved to the correct location. However, if you continue to post in the wrong sections and it becomes a problem, you'll receive a warning and then it will go from there.

Try not to make threads about something already posted - use the Search function to find threads about your specific topic, and if one exists, you can read it or reply to it. This keeps the clutter down and prevents us from having too many similar threads.

Do not post the same thread twice, either in the same place or in two different places. If you posted it in the wrong place, doubled-posted by accident, or need the title changed, please click on the "Report" button under the post to send a message asking for it to be moved, deleted, or the title edited. Please indicate in your message which of these is necessary.

5. As a general rule, do not bring up old inactive threads, especially in forums with a high turn over of new topics such as General Discussion. This is usually less enforced in less active forums, however, if you are unsure, don't hesitate to ask the moderators of the forum.

As with spamming, please do not respond to a topic which has been wrongfully revived declaring that it is old. Instead, report the post to the forum moderator.

Also, do not restart threads that have been closed by a moderator or an administrator.

6. Advertising a personal website, forum, business, or real estate deal is not allowed. You may include your business info in your signature. Making a post with the only intention being to recruit members of this forum or to gain hits for your site/business is not acceptable and for new members will result in an instant permanent ban. REIN™ members can post properties, joint venture opportunities, and rentals in the appropriate Classified Ads forum only (read the Guidelines For Classifieds before posting in the Classified Ads section).

7. Signatures are limited to 600 x 200 pixels, including both images and text, and the total file size of all images should not exceed 100 KB. Text will of course roll over the 600 pixel width limit, but that does not mean your images may do the same. Animations must be kept to an absolute minimum.

Violation of this rule will result in a friendly reminder to fix your signature. Ignoring this reminder or continual breaking of this rule will cause your signature to be removed with the ability to create another denied.

8. Some forums have their own rules, such as the Classified Ads forum. These rules are normally within an announcement at the top of the forum, but also pay due attention to "sticky" topics. Be familiar with such forums before you start posting. If you fail to follow forum-specific rules you may be banned from that particular forum, either temporarily or permanently depending on the severity.

9. Plagiarism, the act of copying someone else's material or ideas and crediting it as your own, is forbidden and will result in an immediate permanent ban.

10. You are allowed only one member account at this board. Creation of another account is not permitted unless it is an emergency. Do not attempt to access an account other than your own or attempt to enter password protected areas.

11. Administrative decisions are final. Punishments attributed to the breaking of any of the rules are at the discretion of the respective administrators.

FAQ

1. What is REIN™?

Click here to read our FAQ for non-members who are interested in or curious about REIN™.

2. Why can't I see some of the forums?

While the My REIN™ Space community is accessible to anybody, only members of the Real Estate Investment Network™ are allowed access to exclusive networking and member benefits contained within the members-only forums. If you wish to learn more about the network and its benefits, click here. You can also click here to sign up for the REIN™ newsletter and receive monthly updates about the network.

If you are already a REIN™ member but cannot access the members-only section, please ensure that you have included all of your personal information and indicated that you are a member (Either during registration or by navigating to My Controls > Personal Profile > Edit Profile Information) and we will confirm your membership within two business days, allowing you access into the Members-Only section. The title under your name will change from "Forum Member" to "REIN™ Member" at this point. If you have verified this information and cannot access the Members Only forums after two business days, please give our office a call at 1-888-824-7346.

3. Why can't I post in some of the forums?

Certain forums are read-only and are designed to provide you with an easy-to-navigate resource directory. In this case, as long as you have access to the forum, you will be able to download the material and view posts created by moderators and administrators. In other cases, such as within the Classified Ads forum, only REIN™ members have the ability to post advertisements, but all forum members are welcome to e-mail the thread creators or send them a private message if they are interested.

Again, if you wish to post classified ads (as well as enjoy many other benefits included in the REIN™ package, including monthly workshops in Canada's biggest cities), please click here to find out more.

4. How do I make a signature?

Signatures are an effective way to identify yourself through the forum system. If you wish to create a simple text-based signature, the signature editor in your control panel (My Controls > Personal Profile > Edit Signature) will help you.

If you wish to include an image, first ensure that the image is within the dimensions of 600 x 200 pixels and that it does not exceed a file size of 100KB.

If the image is already uploaded on the internet, you can use the signature editor to insert it into your forum signature (either by pressing the "Insert Image" button or by tagging it with [img] tags).

If you created the image in Photoshop or another image editing program, or if it is simply saved on your computer, you must first upload it to the internet. We suggest using an image uploading website such as photobucket or imageshack. Once it is uploaded, copy the image location and proceed as indicated above.

For more information on creating signatures, click here to read a helpful article.

5. Can everyone see my full name and address?

No. We respect your privacy, so we will not give out your personal information to anyone. Only forum administrators and you can view your own full name and address. These fields exist only to verify REIN™ members and to allow administrators to easily find members. Other members or guests will not be able to see your full name or address.

6. How do I delete my posts?

Only administrators and moderators can delete posts. This function is not available to anyone else. If you made an error in your post, you can click the "Edit" function underneath your post to change it. If you made a post by accident and need it removed, you can send a private message to an administrator with a link to the post. Please do not make an extra post asking for your post to be deleted. Alternatively, you can use the "Report" button underneath the post to send a message asking for the post to be deleted.

We thank you for reading these guidelines and hope that they have helped you. Once again, if you are still having trouble, please do not hesitate to use the following four-step problem-resolution system:

1. Built-In Help Function
2. Help & Support Forum
3. Private Message To The Administrator
4. E-Mail To The REIN™ Team
